At Sportsman Boats & Phenom Yachts, every boat we build depends on having the right materials, at the right time, and at the right quality. As a Buyer, you’ll play an important role in keeping production moving by managing purchase orders, working with suppliers, monitoring inventory, and finding opportunities to improve cost and efficiency.

What You'll Do

  • Place purchase orders for production materials and components using our ERP system, email, phone, and supplier portals
  • Manage purchase orders from order confirmation through delivery
  • Work with suppliers to adjust delivery dates when production schedules change
  • Compare suppliers based on price, quality, and lead time
  • Look for opportunities to reduce costs
  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages and reduce excess or obsolete inventory
  • Source, quote, and order custom and non-standard parts
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, receipts, and supplier billing
  • Perform manual inventory counts and reconcile them with the ERP system
  • Support receiving, shipping, and local part pickups when needed
  • Help develop and improve lean purchasing processes and procedures
  • Work with others across the business to keep materials moving and production on schedule

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You should have:

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to adapt when priorities and production schedules change 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with or knowledge of ERP systems

Experience in purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, or a related environment is a plus.

What Your Day Will Look Like

This is a hands-on purchasing role that combines office work with time in our manufacturing and warehouse environment. You’ll spend time managing purchase orders and supplier relationships while also staying connected to the materials and parts moving through production.

Parts of the warehouse are not air-conditioned, and the role requires regular sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and bending. You must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. 

Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position, typically Monday–Thursday, 5:00 a.m.- 3:45 p.m. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on department needs.
