Sportsman Boats is looking for our next Grounds Specialist to keep things running smoothly and grounds associated with Sportsman Boats maintained. A typical day will involve lawn maintenance, irrigation, installation, planting, grass and plant maintenance, chemical monitoring, as well as assisting with plant maintenance.    

What you will do:

• Independently plan, schedule, and perform routine lawn, landscape, and grounds maintenance across multiple properties

• Mow, edge, prune, plant, mulch, fertilize, and maintain turf, trees, shrubs, planting beds, and other outdoor spaces

• Plan seasonal landscaping and planting needs, including selecting and ordering plants, materials, and supplies

• Monitor plant and turf health and identify appropriate watering, fertilization, pest, weed, and chemical treatment needs

• Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain irrigation systems and establish appropriate watering schedules

• Plan and complete landscape improvements, including new plantings, landscape lighting, hardscape, and other exterior enhancements

• Inspect grounds and exterior areas to identify maintenance needs, potential problems, and opportunities for improvement

• Maintain clean, orderly, and well-presented exterior spaces at the manufacturing facility and associated properties

• Coordinate materials, equipment, and outside vendors when needed to complete landscaping and grounds projects

• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, power tools, and other equipment necessary to perform assigned work

• Perform minor exterior and facility maintenance as needed, including basic fixture replacement and repair

• Read and interpret equipment manuals, product instructions, and work orders

• Maintain landscaping equipment, tools, chemicals, and supplies in a safe and organized manner

• Comply with all safety requirements, including proper handling and application of landscaping chemicals

• Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

What you'll know or have done:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Previous professional landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture, irrigation, or related experience preferred

• Working knowledge of lawn care, plant maintenance, pruning, fertilization, weed and pest management, and seasonal planting

• Working knowledge of irrigation systems, including operation, troubleshooting, and minor repair

• Ability to independently plan and prioritize work across multiple properties

• Ability to estimate project needs and coordinate or purchase plants, materials, and supplies

• Ability to safely operate lawn and landscaping equipment, hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, and other related equipment

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, particularly as related to irrigation and exterior/landscape lighting

• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also working effectively as part of a team

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical requirements of landscaping and grounds maintenance

• Ability to meet or exceed the company's attendance and punctuality standards

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
